Imkaan Welfare Organization is looking for a Project Coordinator - Education for its project, Khel, a learning & recreational center in Machar Colony, Karachi.
Khel is a safe haven, a space trusted by families to secure learning, growth, development, and protection of their children. Khel uses a holistic approach to child development, with a focus on addressing the individual physical, mental and emotional needs of children.
Scope of Work: The Project Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Imkaan Welfare Organization. Following are the duties/responsibilities of the same:
Providing guidance and support to students who are struggling with their studies or grades.
Coordinating student activities such as field trips, assemblies, and graduations.
Develop, share and regularly update a strategic plan for the academic work that reflects a shared commitment to improve outcomes for children and close the achievement gap.
Design, plan & provide leadership and coordination in the development of curriculum and the implementation of the instructional program, evaluating programs and services on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on informal learning and child growth and development
Guiding teachers in making lesson plans according to the curriculum developed.
Developing programs and material that supports the curriculum being taught.
Provide guidance and support to the teachers in the classroom and for special projects
Measure students’ achievements on a half-yearly basis and assess the effectiveness of the learning environment.
Providing guidance on student discipline or behavioral issues to teachers and administrators.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with families of students including the children, their parents, and other caretakers. Incorporate family engagement in the curriculum and events.
Develop training tools or highlight training(s) for staff skill development.
Provide peer review and proper performance reviews of teaching staff, both oral and written of overall job performance. Independently perform teaching observations as appropriate.
Carry out and assist staff in developing appropriate student behavior through positive reinforcement strategies and techniques.
Provide educational staff with annual training to review updates and changes in education programs where needed
Qualifications:
a) Professional experience in teaching for at least 5 years, a plus if work experience also includes working in community schools.
b) Professional experience in curriculum development
c) Excellent written and spoken English & Urdu.
d) Strong professional communication & interpersonal skills and ability to transfer knowledge.
e) Flexibility and ability to adjust to changing circumstances and needs.
